On August 29, 2005 Hurricane Katrina, the worst natural disaster in
U.S. history, destroyed my home and studio in Gulfport, Mississippi.
Many of my works were lost in the storm, and I spent the following
year and a half as an artist-in-residence at various venues
throughout the country. Since returning home, the studio has been
restored and part of it has been renovated as a living space. Coming
back from this disaster will take time as Mississippi bore the brunt of Katrina’s wrath.
Today, only a few structures remain standing and much of the coast is like a blank slate.
Still, I remain committed to the rebuilding efforts and hope to do what I can toward that end.
I would like to thank the following organizations, institutions, and individuals for their tremendous assistance and courage.
A heartfelt thanks goes specifically to Hiram College as their generosity is still felt today.
Again, my thanks goes to all of you along with others not listed below.
